The Creator – The Origins

1.1 Torsten Nagengast – Founder

He was born in a small German village, far away from great possibilities. As a teenager he was focused on sports, pushing forward, step by step, by setting new goals to reach what he was aiming for. Finally, after years, he achieved being a black belt master, 14 times regional and 4 times German Champion in Kickboxing, and won the bronze medal at the World Championships.

Now he is in charge of High-Tech projects for some of the most famous brands in the automotive industry, all the while pursuing his passion in watches, from historical to ultra-luxury pieces for a palace in the Middle East. Finally, and maybe most importantly, he united all these personal skills to create the EXTREME Ultralight Time Instrument.

1.3 Why EXTREME?

As Extreme began and was developing I did not start out to compare with anybody else in the watch industry. It started from my own personal background, to build and create the best out of the two completely different industries I fully embrace and are part of my life, the inspiration of the spirit of EXTREME sport.

Not confined to just another fashion brand or creative design! EXTREME is about doing that 20% more than any other micro brand or experience. That extra 20% of effort that pushes you to WIN and the real reason to become part of EXTREME community.

2 Hight-Tech concept & High performance Materials

2.1 Aerospace DNA movement – Hardened Aluminium

“As we started to build EXTREME, we did not start out to compare with anybody else in the watch industry. At the very early stage, right at the start of the project, it was clear that the key to success will be in the difference in its DNA. We united the best out of the watch production and the Hi-Tech materials in the Automotive industry, strongly defined by the Extreme Spirit.”

Perfect in point of weight, perfect in point of strength, free of any tensions and TOP results during temperature tests. No microbrand in the watch industry used the hardened aluminium to produce all bridges and plates of the movement, nobody is taking like we do the advantages of the characteristics of this high-performance material.

2.2 Automotive monocoque casing – Carbon & Titanium

A carbon body assembled it in a sandwich style with titanium bezel and bottom, it gives a stability and strength we can find only in F1 sports cars, which is also used in a moulded CFC monocoques serving as its passenger cabin or in Hi-tech combat jets.

And since Titanium is used inside car engines or even more impressively inside the human body, what better material for being in touch with the skin of an EXTREME Watch owner.

4 EXTREME timepieces, a heritage

4.1 Watchmaking background

Germany – Torsten Nagengast, known for his passion and dedication to horology, outlines his shift from collector to authority in rare timepieces.

Passion began young: acquiring historically significant movements with technical mastery and legacy. “Wristwatches that tells a story of its craftmanship and heritage”.

He transitioned from collecting to expertise, specializing in procuring/restoring rare models. Core focus: safeguarding historical integrity during renovation.

Shifted to trading exclusive vintage watches. Early challenges: limited sellable inventory. Solved by leveraging all opportunities: sourcing new-old-stock, or partnering with manufacturers for discontinued components.

Expertise dealt in modern movements and vintage pieces (1900–1960). Torsten’s reputation built on precision and authenticity, becoming a respected name, for his dedication to the art of watchmaking.

Sourced watches across Europe, refining skill in authenticating high-quality pieces exceeding collector standards. Allowing Torsten the occasion to procure exceptional timepieces.

Decades of rigor established Nagengast as a benchmark for technical precision and historical accuracy in horology.

4.2 TNT – Torsten Nagengast Timeline

Discussing Extreme’s heritage in watchmaking means approaching TNT (Torsten Nagengast Timeline). TNT is all about limited editions, based on movements ranging from the 1940s to the 1970s. ETA movements were also featured in some particular models.

Navigator

The TNT Navigator is the perfect example of the brand’s ideology. A tribute to the German B-Uhr, a pilot’s watch manufactured during WWII by several brands. Featuring a new-old stock Phenix Swiss mechanism from 1939, and decorated in Germany. An extremely limited edition at only 20 pieces.

Seahunter 2016 California

An homage to the true first diving watches. A historical interpretation of the classic design, and a movement from the producer that delivered the mechanisms to the British navy in 1940 featured with a Longines movement made in the 70´s and 80´s.

Challenger Series with the Bullhead and Black Luna limited Editions

With the BULLHEAD Chronograph version, TNT produced a completely unique timepiece utilizing a few classic design cues coupled with a TOP grade Valjoux 7750 movement modified to Rattrapante in Chronometer version offer complications never before executed in a microbrand timepiece.

In the BLACK LUNA Serie the watches are exclusive because of the dedicated modifications to the Valjoux 7734 movements. TNT added a Month and Moon phase module on top of the Chronograph.

The history of watchmaking is a history of enthusiasts, great innovations and fantastic watchmaker arts. Paladin is our very own way to honour this great history of watchmaking. These amazing timepieces do not only undergo a reunion of fantastic historical movements and new, custom-made cases

– it’s the rebirth of an exclusive watch.

How to name a watch that got its rebirth in a modern case, using traditional watchmaker handcraft and present technologies? Once again, history itself gave us the answer.

The title and extention “Paladine” was a century-long way to honour chivalrous heroes, foremost warriors and outstanding leaders – while in present days, modern tales talk about paladins as holy warriors, providing the ability of reincarnation.

Could there be any better way to honour the history of watchmaking and name such an outstanding piece? We don’t think so.

Some unique details make every Paladin watch become one of a kind real collectors-pieces. Only the best, and per request refined, movements are “reborn” into unique watches. The interplay of old watchmakers-art and modern production-methods allows the development of those fantastic watches.

5 Automotive & Aerospace Engineering

With both companies in Germany and China in the automotive industry, Nagengast works like the lubricant or bridge in between. He is working for famous car brands including BMW and Porsche, helping them with their projects in Asia.

Nowadays, he is taking a leap, attempting to unite the power of China with the quality of Germany.

6 German engineer applies extreme sports spirit to work

“Nagengast’s life can be described as legendary. A kickboxer since he was young, he has obtained a black belt and fetched many national and international championship titles at different kickboxing tournaments. Drawn to China since his childhood because of his love for Bruce Lee, Torsten Nagengast finally decided to travel to China in 2006. “

“For his success in both sports and career, the extreme-sports philosophy plays a key role. “Don’t look at others mistakes; look to yourself, improve yourself, get better, work harder, and work faster,” stressed Nagengast.”

“If I do something, I do it really intensively. When I went into watches, I went deep into it. I opened my own companies and went to China and to find opportunities and interesting people. I started trading, consulting and then I started producing. If I go, I go deeper and deeper into it,” said Nagengast.”
